What does money lost mean?

Money lost is your annual income multiplied by the inflation rate. It is a teaching estimate of how much purchasing power that income loses in a year, not cash leaving a bank account.

Where does the inflation rate come from?

In 2026 we load the latest annual headline CPI from the World Bank (IMF source) for the reference economy of your currency: US dollar → United States, euro → Euro area, pound → United Kingdom, leu → Romania. You can always type your own rate.

Why currency instead of country?

The calculator keys inflation to the four currencies Snaptrend already supports. Euro uses Euro area CPI, not a single country. If you spend in a different economy, override the rate.

How are seconds and months calculated?

Accepted Answer

A year is the annual figure. Month is year ÷ 12, week is year ÷ 52, day is year ÷ 365. Hours, minutes, and seconds divide that 365-day year. The live total adds one second of money lost every second.
